Disclaimer & Appropriate Use
PlainAirQuality publishes air-quality data and explanatory content for general information and education. Please read the following before relying on anything here.
Not medical advice
Air pollution affects health, but this site is not a medical resource. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or personalized health advice. If you have a respiratory or cardiovascular condition, are pregnant, care for children or older adults, or have concerns about pollution exposure, consult a qualified healthcare professional. For health guidance on air pollution, see your national health service or the World Health Organization.
Not a real-time air-quality service
The figures on this site are annual and multi-year statistics drawn from official reporting cycles, typically the most recent validated EEA reporting year. They are not live readings. Annual means smooth over daily spikes and seasonal episodes: a location with a clean annual average can still experience unhealthy hours or days. For current conditions and forecasts, use a real-time service such as your national agency's live index or the EEA / Copernicus live products.
Estimates and modeling
Some figures, particularly premature-death and health-burden numbers, are modeled attributable estimates produced with established concentration-response methodology, not counted events. They carry uncertainty and should be read as orders of magnitude, not precise tallies. We label estimates as such throughout the site.
Accuracy and sources
We compile data from the European Environment Agency, Copernicus CAMS, and national agencies, and we work to keep it accurate and current. We cannot guarantee that every value is free of error or fully up to date, and source agencies revise their datasets over time. Where our figure and an official source disagree, the official source governs, and we want to hear about it (see our corrections policy).
Not affiliated
PlainAirQuality is an independent project of PlainAirQuality. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the EEA, the European Union, Copernicus, the WHO, or any national agency. Agency names and datasets are referenced for attribution only.
